Unlike other power cords on the market, the Monster Cable uses a true 16 gauge wire, not only for the voltage connections, but the audio as well. Other power cords, including the heavy-duty curly cord, use a smaller diameter wire (18 gauge at best and only for the power connections), which translates to more voltage drop or power consumption. The theoretical voltage drop on the Monster Cable at +6 volts DC and 0.7 amps is less than 15 millivolts. By comparison, the heavy-duty curly cords have approximately 1 ½ times as much voltage drop.
